MLF Expected To Come To Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. — Major League Football (MLF) has chosen Mobile as one of its four home cities, and officials say it will pour millions of dollars into the local economy to get started, NBC15 recently reported. The name of the team in Mobile is the Alabama Airborne. The Florida-based league, which also has teams in Virginia Beach, Virginia; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Canton, Ohio; is bringing all its players and coaches to Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile for training camp in July. There will also be two games at the stadium before the inaugural season next spring, against the Ohio Force on August 9 and against Arkansas Attack on August 16. Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson commented, “Not only will these events make a significant economic impact and provide entertainment for Mobilians, I know the hundreds of visitors traveling with the MLF will enjoy all that Mobile has to offer while they’re here." The Mobile Sports Authority is estimating a $3-million to $4-million economic impact. Ann Davis, vice chairman of the Ladd-Peebles Board, warned that the agreement isn’t a done deal yet, but she is optimistic.
