Mobile International Speedway To Open 2024 Season With Road Course Race

Mobile International Speedway in Theodore will open the 2024 Season on March 9 with a special road course race for the stock division. Promoter Eddie Shoemaker will turn the 60-year-old facility into a road course for the first race of his first full season at the speedway. Track personnel will begin converting the racing surface to a road course after the “Nights N Lights” Christmas program concludes in January. Competitors will compete for 50 laps, with a midway break, traversing the course clockwise, navigating six right-handers, three left-handers and chicanes. Additional details for competitors will be released at a later date. Shoemaker took the helm of the Speedway for an abbreviated season in 2023. The four-race season set speedway records for purses, fans, cars and social media. The speedway is currently in the first year of its partnership with the Mobile Sports and Entertainment Group’s “Nights N Lights.” It opened in 1965 and is considered the fastest half mile in Alabama.
