Mobile Native Named to State Hall Of Fame

The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame recently announced that Mobile native Willie Anderson has been named to the Class of 2021. Anderson was born July 11, 1975, in Mobile and played offensive tackle at Auburn University in 1993-1995 and was an All-American and two-time All-SEC. He was selected 10th overall in the 1996 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. A four-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro selection, Anderson played 12 seasons with the Bengals and his final season with the Ravens in 2008. He played in 195 games, starting 184. Anderson only surrendered 16 sacks in his 13-year career and did not give up a sack throughout 1999-2001. Starting with the first class in 1969, this will be the 53rd inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. The eight new members, who will be inducted on May 8, 2021, bring the total number of inductees to 377.
