Mobile Parks And Rec To Celebrate Black History Month

The Mobile Parks and Recreation Department is prepared to celebrate Black History Month throughout February with several events, with which it aims to get local nonprofit and community organizations involved. Throughout February, the department will highlight the life history and culture of Black Americans and Black Mobilians. A diversity, equity and inclusion seminar is taking place on February 1 at the Thomas Sullivan Community Center. On February 8, a family portrait event will take place at the Hillsdale Community Center and Park, and a “Community Walk and Talk will be held on February 15 at Herndon-Sage Park. Finally, the Harmon-Thomas Community Center and Park will host the “History In the Making Teen Talent Show” on February 22. All events begin at 6 p.m.
