New Walking Trail Planned Along Wolf Creek In Foley

A new walking trail will extend pedestrian opportunities in Foley under plans being developed by the city. The Foley City Council approved plans to design the Schreiber Trail, which would run along an area where the headwaters of Wolf Creek were restored to a natural state. The trail would be named for former City Councilman Robert Schreiber. The walkway from the Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail east of Highway 59 to North Pecan Street would cover a distance of approximately 2,000 ft. Foley began work to restore that area of Wolf Creek in 2011. The city expanded what had been a narrow, straight ditch into a meandering streambed approximately 80 ft wide. Vegetation was also planted along the waterway in what had been a cleared area.
