Plans For Mobile County Parks Unveiled

County commissioners from Districts 1, 2 and 3 recently unveiled their plans for parks in Mobile County, according to FOX10. In District 1’s Chickasabogue Park in Prichard, a conference center, new fields and walking trails are being added, and improvements are being made to campsites and restrooms. In District 2, Commissioner Connie Hudson announced phase two of the Mobile County Soccer Complex. Hudson said that, even with only three fields, as many as 1,500 people use the complex on the weekends. Next summer, work is to begin on a "Championship Field," along with bleachers, locker rooms and additional parking. District 3’s commissioner, Randall Dueitt, detailed a $6.5-million renovation to the Bayfront Park in Coden and restoration to the Dauphin Island Causeway. Dueitt added that, with the recent purchase of the Cedar Point Pier, Mobile County residents will have more access to the water. Many of these improvements are being paid for by Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act funds and money from the American Rescue Plan. Coming up, the council is expected to vote on a feasibility study to see if an outdoor water park could be in the works in District 2.
