Registration Still Open For MPRD Spring Sports Programs

Registration is still open for a variety of youth sports programs hosted by the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD). There is still space available for individual athletes and local teams interested in sports like girls’ volleyball, track and field and NFL Flag football. For the third year, MPRD is hosting a flag football league through NFL Flag, the league’s official flag football program. One of the league’s teams won a regional tournament in New Orleans last fall and will be playing in the NFL Flag National Championship later this summer. NFL Flag football is open to children ages 7-18 and costs $45 per free agent or $450 per team. The MPRD Track and Field team has been very successful in recent years. In 2024, it won the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association State Track and Field Championships, bringing home 12 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze medals. The team practices at the Murphy High School track, and the program is open to children ages 4-14. Registration for track and field are $75 for children ages 4-6 and $100 for children ages 7-14. After several successful clinics for young Mobilians, MPRD is hosting its first league for girls’ volleyball. The league will play at the Sullivan Community Center and is open to children ages 4-14. Registration for individual players is $20 for the season, which will run through April 19.
