Ribbon Cutting Held For Dauphin Island’s Billy Goat Hole Boat Ramp

On March 20, representatives from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) and the Town of Dauphin Island celebrated renovations to the Billy Goat Hole Public Boat Ramp. During the Billy Goat Hole renovation project, new boat ramps and docks were installed approximately 30 ft farther from Bienville Boulevard to allow more room for vehicles to maneuver safely and efficiently, reducing impacts to local traffic. The new docks feature composite decking material and are Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant. Additional updates to the facility include an improved parking area, the addition of an ADA-compliant lift and a new wheelchair ramp that improves access to the restrooms and concession area. The renovation was a joint project between ADCNR and the Town of Dauphin Island. GOMESA funding for this project was allocated by Gov. Kay Ivey.
