Senior Bowl Names Curtis Executive Director Of MBAP
The Senior Bowl has named longtime high school football coach Terry Curtis as executive director of the Mobile Baldwin Athletic Partnership (MBAP), the Mobile Chamber announced. Among the most successful high school football coaches in Alabama history, Curtis has earned numerous honors, including National High School Coach of the Year recognition from the National High School Athletic Coaches Association in 2023. Curtis has spent more than five decades coaching high school football, including 35 years as a head coach. During his tenure at UMS-Wright Preparatory School in Mobile, he compiled a record of 278 wins to 62 losses with eight state championships. Across his career, he has also coached at B.C. Rain, Murphy and Shaw high schools, all in Mobile. MBAP is a nonprofit organization under the Senior Bowl Charities arm that provides needed resources for underfunded public schools in the two-county area. Working closely with local coaches, the organization identifies specific equipment needs while creating character and leadership development opportunities for student-athletes selected by their head coaches. In his new role, Curtis is to expand MBAP’s impact by mentoring student-athletes and strengthening connections between local athletics and the Senior Bowl.
