Baldwin County Opens Orange Beach CHaRM

The Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County opened its third Center for Hard to Recycle Materials Facility (CHaRM) on July 23. It offers Orange Beach residents and beachgoers a centralized location to properly dispose of materials not accepted in standard curbside recycling. These materials include glass, electronics, batteries, lightbulbs, household hazardous waste, fire extinguishers and tanks. Joining existing CHaRM locations in Fairhope and Summerdale, the facility is on 1.25 acres at 22510 Russian Road in Gulf Shores. It operates Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon, with no appointment required. Three more CHaRMs are planned in the county.
