Chastang Landfill Expansion Public Comments Open

 The Mobile County Commission, on behalf of the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of the City of Mobile, has accepted an application from Waste Management seeking local approval to expand Chastang Landfill’s service area and daily intake capacity. The action also authorized public notices, officially opening the public comment period on the proposed permit modification. Opportunities for public comment begin with a public awareness meeting on October 2 at 6-7:30 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church (16650 Highway 43 in Mount Vernon). Next will be a public hearing and public comment review on November 10 at 10 a.m. at the regular Mobile County Commission meeting at the Government Plaza Auditorium (205 Government Street, 1st Floor in Mobile). Written comments will be accepted through the close of the public hearing via email or regular mail to Tina Sanchez, Environmental Services Director, Department of Environmental Services, Mobile County Commission, 205 Government Street, 7th Floor, South Tower, Mobile, Alabama 36644.
