MAC Announces Fundraiser Events

The Mobile Arts Council (MAC) has announced the return of its annual fundraising event, The Throwdown. In its 13th year, the live art competition will take place on October 2 at 6-9 p.m. at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf in Mobile. It will feature five local artists competing in a fast-paced, 90-min. challenge using only supplies from a shared table, plus a surprise mystery box. Each artist’s completed work will be auctioned live at the end of the evening. As MAC celebrates 70 years this year, this iteration will be presented as a “Retro-Bution” competition, featuring the return of previous contenders for another chance to win. Braided River Brewing Co. will host the official release party for “Retro-Brewtion,” a limited-edition craft beer created in honor of MAC’s 70th anniversary, on September 19 at 5:30 p.m. at its location in Mobile. Guests will be among the first to sample the new brew, purchase tickets to The Throwdown and meet this year’s competing artists. Attendees are encouraged to don their favorite 1970s-inspired attire. Sponsorships are available by contacting Angela Montgomery at email.
