SALT Names Executive Director, Executive Assistant

Jane Herndon has been named executive director for South Alabama Land Trust (SALT). Herndon has two degrees in geology and gained her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. After a 20-year career as an environmental attorney representing clients in environmental law and real estate, Herndon became an assistant commissioner for the New Jersey Department for Environmental Protection. She then worked for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Most recently, she worked for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as manager of its aviation department’s environmental programs. There, she led work to support environmentally sound operations at its five airports. “Coming from a highly developed state (New Jersey) that did not plan for open space and conservation until late in the state’s development, she understands the need to prioritize open space conservation,” SALT said.Additionally, Christy Harrub recently joined SALT as an executive assistant. Her key responsibilities will be managing the SALT office, overseeing day-to-day finances and handling all real estate transaction details in support of the executive director. Harrub brings 30 years of office management experience to SALT. She has worked in data and researched case files for the legal department of Delchamps Corp., where she also handled payroll and employee insurance. Since 1998, she has worked for Guarantee Title Co. (GTC), where she was personnel manager and handled bookkeeping. Most recently, she was Baldwin branch manager for GTC. Harrub is pursuing her associate degree at Faulkner State Community College.
