Faulkner President Stepping Down

President Mike Williams of Faulkner University, which has an extension campus in Mobile, has announced that he is stepping down from his position effective May 6, 2022, to become president at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, Business Alabama reports. The eighth president of the 79-year-old Faulkner, Williams has served since 2015. In his term, the university added a College of Health Sciences, which also acts as the foundation for Williams’ vision to create an autism center on campus. He also helped establish a partnership between Faulkner and Davis Elementary School andHealthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Alabama, a chapter of HEAL United. Before coming to Faulkner, Williams was at Harding for 28 years, serving in roles including director of admissions, assistant vice president of enrollment services and vice president of advancement. He also is a graduate of Harding, where he earned his undergraduate and MBA degrees. Faulkner is a private, Christian, liberal arts university headquartered in Montgomery and with other extension campuses in Birmingham and Huntsville serving approximately 3,000 students. It has already begun its search for a new president.
