Mardi Gras Float Prop Workshop Coming To MAC Gallery

The Mobile Arts Council (MAC) has announced a professional development opportunity for October 18 at 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at its gallery at Room 1927 adjacent to Saenger Theatre Mobile: a hands-on Mardi Gras Float Prop Workshop led by master float builder Steve Mussell and a team of expert artisans. With more than 100 years of combined experience in float construction, propmaking and Mardi Gras artistry, the instructors will provide participants with a behind-the-scenes look at their creative process. The workshop, designed for art educators, will include a complete curriculum to implement in classrooms, a ready-to-paint MoonPie prop sculpture to take home and lunch. Registration is limited to only 20 participants.
