UM Hires Assistant Professor

MOBILE, Ala. — The University of Mobile (UM) School of Education recently hired Dr. Jessica Freeland as an assistant professor. After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education, Dr. Jessica Freeland earned her doctorate in instructional design and development, all from the University of South Alabama (USA). Additionally, she was named the program’s outstanding graduate student for 2022. She has taught elementary school for six years, during which time she has been a grade-level chair, PowerSchool/Schoology lead teacher and mentor teacher to student teachers. Her specialty is arts integration, and she served as the coordinator of the Arts in Education professional development program at USA for more than seven years. She has also worked as a grant development specialist and has experience in both writing and managing grants, a specialty she plans to continue at UM, along with teaching classes.
