Allegiant To Bring Air Service To Gulf Shores
Allegiant Air has announced that it will begin commercial air service in May 2025 from Gulf Shores, offering six new destinations at the same time the city is set to complete an $8-million temporary commercial passenger terminal, AL.com reported. “We are confident in the team here that they know how to set up an airport and get it ready to go for a commercial airport in six months,” the company’s vice president of planning and revenue, Kristen Schilling-Gonzales, said. The introduction of the new flights comes with an aggressive timeline for a construction project that is not expected to be completed until early May 2025. Aside from the two-gate, 17,500-ft2 terminal project, approximately 50 new people will need to be hired to accommodate the airport’s activities. Additionally, officials say preparations are still needed to coordinate the local lodging businesses with shuttle services to and from the airport. Ride-sharing and taxi services will need to also be aligned to the new service, which is to connect with Cincinnati and Belleville, Illinois; Great Smoky Mountains National Park/Knoxville, Tennessee; Houston; Bentonville/Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Kansas City, Missouri.
