Baldwin County Animal Shelter Opens

The new Baldwin County Animal Shelter recently opened in Summerdale after two years of construction. The $4.7-million facility is built with concrete-reinforced walls and other useful features for when severe weather strikes, WKRG reported. It has 14 more kennels than the last building, which is being demolished. Additionally, each area is separated by filtration systems, and each has its own air-conditioning unit, allowing for quarantining. There is also a generator for the whole building. The facility, at 15240 County Road 49, is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
