Historic Franklin House & Gallery Opening To Public

The Mobile County Commission is holding an open house for the Historic Franklin House & Gallery at 355 North Ann Street in Mobile and launching the facility as a public venue tomorrow. It will be open to the public beginning November 17 and hold tours on Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment at phone: 251-725-2236. The venue will also be available for community gatherings and small events. The Mobile County asset was developed under the leadership of District 1 Commissioner Merceria Ludgood and is operated by the Dora Franklin Finley African American Heritage Trail. It is a legacy site of the Mobile County Civil Rights and Cultural Heritage District and home of the late Dr. James A. Franklin, Sr., who the commission says was a cornerstone of Mobile’s African American community and a model of service during an era of segregation and limited access to care.
