Master Plan Unveiled For Fairhope’s Dyas Triangle

Fairhope officials recently unveiled a master plan for the Dyas Triangle, a 108-acre site in Fairhope bordering Scenic 98, Veterans Drive and Highway 98 that has been targeted to become a municipal nature park, WKRG reported. Phase I includes an underground tunnel that will connect two properties and a new purpose for a home that was donated to the city late last year. “That house is going to be where parking is, maybe a nature center, and then the trailhead and everything will start there…. We want to put some passive trails through there, outdoor classrooms, give people some access to be able to see Fly Creek through there, [and] some bird-watching areas,” added Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan. She expects there to be several phases before the $1-million project is completed. It is funded through a Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act grant. Work is expected to start later this year following a Steering Committee meeting, public comment, final approval and bidding.
