Mobile County Commission Appoints Administrator

The Mobile County Commission recently appointed E. Edwin “Eddie” Kerr to the position of county administrator. Kerr has been interim county administrator since March 1 in advance of the retirement of Glenn L. Hodge. Kerr has been employed by the commission since 2006 in positions of increasing responsibility, including deputy county administrator and environmental services director. Before joining the county, Kerr worked for Thompson Engineering. In his new role, he will oversee the daily operations of more than 20 departments or programs and serve as chief clerk for the commission. Among other accomplishments in other county roles, Kerr oversaw the Environmental Grant Program and project implementation for Mobile County, which has resulted in more than $200 million in capital improvement projects; coastal resiliency projects; and other projects financed through more than 10 state, federal and other funding programs, including those resulting from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. He is a Professional Engineer who holds a BS in civil engineering from the University of South Alabama.
