Mobile Kicks Off Ramp Upgrades, Sidewalk Improvements

The City of Mobile will be starting a series of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp upgrades and sidewalk improvements that Mayor Sandy Stimpson said “will touch all seven Mobile City Council districts over the next two years.” Part of the city’s ADA Transition Plan, this latest round of improvements will invest $1.9 million into sidewalk and ADA accessibility updates in neighborhoods throughout the community. This is in addition to sidewalk improvements included in other infrastructure projects like park upgrades and major street reconstruction efforts. This work is being funded through Mobile’s Capital Improvement Program and funds allocated to each council district.
