Mobile Sees Record Revenue

MOBILE, Ala. — The City of Mobile recently released its 2021 Popular Annual Financial Report, which is intended to help citizens better understand city finances and how their taxes are being managed. The 20-page document is a concise summary of the full 256-page financial report. Its data shows the city is netting 23.7% (a record $479 million) in additional revenue, and it increased general government expenditures by 122.5% ($22.0 million). Additionally, engineering, development and Build Mobile expenditures increased 32.6% ($6.6 million). The additional revenue is mostly due to record tax collection and high values of grants/contributions, while the increased expenditures are primarily due to increases in grant expenditures in special revenue funds.
