Mobile To Offer Home Down Payment Assistance
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson has announced that the city will be offering enhanced down payment assistance to qualifying frontline healthcare workers and certified teachers buying their first homes. The Down Payment Assistance Program will provide up to $10,000 to first-time buyers who meet federal income requirements. Stimpson added that, since last year, the city has also offered down payment assistance of up to $20,000 to qualifying police officers and firefighters buying their first homes. Funding from the American Rescue Plan enabled the program’s expansion. He added that down payment assistance is “one of the ways we’re working to create or preserve more than 1,000 affordable homes across Mobile by 2026.” Other neighborhood development programs from the city are detailed here.
