Semmes Swears In First Police Officers

SEMMES, Ala. — Semmes recently swore in the first four police officers for its new force, the first in the city’s 10-year history, AL.com reported. Sergeant Laun Duke Bagsby and officers Michael Anderson, Alex Cook and Daniel Marlin were sworn in, with dignitaries Mayor Brandon Van Hook, Police Chief Todd Friend and Assistant Chief Jeff Eiland present. The new police force is to eventually take over law enforcement duties in Semmes from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office as it adds more officers and the sheriff’s office scales back patrols in Semmes. The city will also shift its $1.6-million contract with the sheriff’s office to the police department.
