Spine Surgeon Joins Baldwin Bone & Joint

Baldwin Bone & Joint recently announced that Dr. James Hicks, fellowship-trained spine surgeon, will join the orthopedic specialist team at The Spine Institute, a part of Baldwin Bone & Joint, beginning September 18. Hicks brings experience in complex surgeries, including motion preservation surgery, to the practice. Motion preservation surgery refers to surgical methods used in place of conventional spinal fusion that preserve the natural movement of the spine in the affected area. Hicks received a BS in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Georgia and earned a DM from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama Birmingham and a Complex and Minimally Invasive Spine Fellowship at Swedish Hospital. Additionally, he is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, AO Spine and the North American Spine Society.
