Embassy Suites Submits Site Plan To Planning Commission

GULF SHORES, Ala — The partnership between Gulf Shores and Embassy Suites is moving forward in Orange Beach, according to OBA. A new Embassy Suites with 254 rooms and a 7,800-ft2 ballroom had been delayed five times due to COVID-19, but now that DD Partners has paid its final $200,000 and sought preliminary site plan approval from the Orange Beach Planning Commission, it may proceed. Next, the commission will send a recommendation to the city council, which will also review the site plan. The latest starting date for construction is June 30. Part of the deal is that the city will give Embassy Suites a tax rebate of 42% during the first three years of operation and 35% every year following until a $6.5 million rebate is achieved.
