Airbus Breaks Ground On Third Final Assembly Line

Airbus recently broke ground on its third final assembly line (FAL) in Mobile, Business Facilities is among outlets to report. Gov. Kay Ivey was on hand to help celebrate the growth project, which is to bring 1,000 local jobs. Its main aspect is a 350,000-ft2 A320 FAL to increase production of the in-demand passenger jet. A total of $20 million was approved by Mobile County and City officials this summer on cash incentives to support the project, and the state is giving $20 million in cash incentives, AL.com reported. These follow $25.8 million in combined state, county and local incentives for the Airbus A220 manufacturing plant that opened in 2020. In 2012, state and local taxpayers invested $158.5 million in incentives to land the first Airbus FAL in Mobile. Airbus has invested more than $1 billion in its Mobile facility and expects the latest expansion to be completed in third quarter 2025.
