ESSC Donates $20,000 To Baldwin BCCAC

Summerdale-based nonprofit Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center (BCCAC), which provides services to children and adolescents who have been sexually abused, has received a $20,000 donation by the Eastern Shore Sertoma Club (ESSC). The money will go toward BCCAC’s purchase of Cortex-Flow, which BCCAC says enables its pediatric nurse practitioners to obtain quality photographs of those disclosing sexual abuse with a less-invasive approach. BCCAC said the camera provides a clearer view and helps minimize discomfort and the potentially retraumatizing nature of the forensic examinations for survivors. It added that the Cortex-Flo has integrated photography and video, which captures evidence directly, reducing the need for separate equipment and streamlining the process. It can also provide secure storage and sharing of encrypted and protected cases for peer review and legal proceedings.
