Groundwork Mobile County Recognized By Mayor

MOBILE, Ala. — Nonprofit Groundwork Mobile County was recognized by Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson on July 19 for its work in community service projects throughout the region. With a mission to “build local partnerships and projects to create positive environmental and social change that promote healthy communities and enrich youth development,” the organization engages young people between the ages of 14 and 28 to get them involved. “Altogether, Groundwork has collected more than 2,500 pounds of litter, donated more than 250 hours of service, worked on two conservation projects and established more than 10 community gardens” since its founding in 2017, Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson said. This summer, it has been working with the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department to pick up litter in rivers and watersheds that border Mobile’s public parks.
