Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway Association Holds Annual Meeting

The Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway Association, a nonprofit representing those interested in navigation of the river system, held its annual meeting at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama, on May 18-19. Keynoted by Gov. Kay Ivey, the event saw the election of new board members Woody Collins, mayor of Demopolis; John Driscoll, CEO of the Alabama State Port Authority; Steven Burns, environmental attorney at Balch & Bingham; and Kenneth “K.R.” McKenzie of Watco Alabama Port Services. Larry Merrihew was reelected as president, and Charlie Haun, vice chairman of Parker Towing Co., was reelected as chairman. New officers are David Carroll, senior vice president and counsel at Hunt Refining Co. (vice chairman), and Tom Leatherbury, vice president at SSA Marine (secretary/treasurer). Additionally, the Mobile District Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Sector Mobile and Eighth USCG Bridge Administration outlined the status of the river system. Other presentations were made by industry representatives of steel, wood chips, coal, weather and other waterways.
