Affordable Senior Housing Opens In Semmes

The new 56-unit Legacy Trail affordable senior apartment community in Semmes is now open. Legacy Trail was built using a combination of the Mobile County Commission’s HOME funds awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, state tax credits, state HOME funds and private investment by Olympia Management. Residents must meet age (55 and older) and income requirements to live in Legacy Trail apartments, which have a lower-than-average market rent. Programmatic rent caps ensure continued future affordability. Legacy Trail offers one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Commissioner Connie Hudson, who represents District 2, said, “The Mobile County Commission understands that affordable housing is a priority, and this public/private partnership should help meet a clear need in a great location. Semmes is quickly elevating its quality-of-life infrastructure, and it’s such a delightful, growing community with a vibrant senior center. Legacy Trail is a good addition that should help Semmes become even more attractive to seniors.”
