Ground Broken On Affordable Housing Subdivision In Mobile

 A groundbreaking was recently held on a new affordable housing development that will be built on the footprint of the former Arlington School in Mobile. Named in honor of City Council President C.J. Small, C.J. Small Heights will include 23 single-family homes, each with income restrictions to ensure long-term affordability for qualifying residents. The City of Mobile is investing $4.5 million from its American Rescue Plan Act funding to support the construction, which is to also ensure that the homes in the subdivision remain affordable. All homes in the development will be owner-occupied. Housing Choice Voucher holders will also be eligible to apply through the City’s Homeownership Provides Equity Program, which allows them to use their voucher toward a mortgage at a fixed rate over 20-30 years.
