Mae Eanes Middle School at 1901 Hurtel Street in Mobile closed in 2018 and has been derelict since. MCPSS Superintendent Chresal Threadgill was unsure if the building will remain, adding, “It’s been vacant for quite some time, and it’s getting harder to maintain.” He expects the buyer to do “something positive for the community,” he said. One potential purchaser would build affordable homes.
