Daphne to Pay $575,000 for Football Turf

The Daphne City Council has voted to allocate $575,000 to help pay for the new turf at the Daphne High School football stadium, GulfCoastNewsToday.com reports. Mayor Robin LeJeune said the new synthetic turf will save Daphne about $300,000 in maintenance costs over the life of the field and that the improvement will be a benefit for residents and students. Residents are able to use both the field and stadium for recreational activities when the school is not using them. An agreement is in place for Daphne High School educators and supporters to raise the rest of the money needed for the $1.2-million project. Goodlin said Principal John Comer and Athletic Director Kenny King are tackling the task.
