Mobile MPRD To Celebrate National Parks And Recreation Month

The Mobile Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD) is hosting a variety of unique, family-friendly events throughout July to celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month. This year marks the 40th anniversary of this special recognition for parks employees around the country. Launched by the National Recreation and Park Association in 1985, National Parks and Recreation Month celebrates parks professionals and the positive impact they have on the lives of tens of millions of people across the United States. This year’s theme is “Build Together, Play Together.” “In 2024, there were 386,337 check-ins in our local parks, and that speaks to the incredible impact that MPRD and its staff have on Mobilians of all ages,” said Mayor Sandy Stimpson. Some of the month’s highlighted events include Cardio Tennis Clinics, the Kids Cycling Classic and Dive-in Movies.
