Mobile’s Taylor Park Recreational Center To Get Upgrade

A major makeover is set to begin at Mobile’s Taylor Park Recreational Center at 1050 Baltimore Street after the city recently approved a $6-million contract, WKRG News 5 reports. Plans include a new 8,000-ft2 community center. “Pretty much this whole facility is going to be redone,” said City Council President C.J. Small. Plans involve demolishing the old pool house and building another and connecting a community center. Restore Mobile is expected to build six to eight homes across the street on Baltimore Street. People who frequent the recreation center can use temporary locations, such as the Inner City Mission on Broad Street, while construction is taking place. Project managers say the construction and upgrades will take about 18 months.
