Saraland Athletic Trainer Awarded Statewide Award

Anna Szymanski, an athletic trainer with Infirmary Health’s sports medicine program who works with Saraland City Schools, was recently awarded the Alabama Athletic Trainers Association Life Saver Award for her role in an event at Saraland High School in 2023. The award, created in 2024, is given to an athletic trainer who has represented the profession well and used their training to provide lifesaving services or other humanitarian efforts. In November 2023, a parent at a Saraland High School basketball game was unconscious in the stands. Szymanski jumped into action and, along with other medical professionals in attendance, began rendering aid. Thanks to the group’s efforts, the unconscious parent regained consciousness and was transferred to the hospital. Saraland City Schools also recognized Szymanski for her service.
