Mobile Opens Third Recycling Dropoff Center

The City of Mobile has opened a new recycling center at 1750 Dauphin Island Parkway. Funded by a grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, the “Parkway Recycling Center on the Peninsula” will help give Mobilians easy access to single-stream recycling services, Mayor Sandy Stimpson said. He added that, thanks to a separate grant from The Recycling Partnership, the city will also increase public education and outreach about the benefits of recycling and the city’s available services. These efforts are supported by the American Beverage Association’s “Every Bottle Back” initiative and the Alabama Beverage Association. The Peninsula of Mobile, which has partnered with the city on several environmental projects in the area, also plans to build a visitor information center at the site.
