Law Named OBCS Assistant Superintendent
Orange Beach City Schools (OBCS) has announced that Dr. Mary Catherine Law, current principal of Orange Beach Elementary School, has been named the district’s next assistant superintendent. Law will complete the current school year serving as principal of Orange Beach Elementary and begin her new district leadership role in July. Law has served in her current role for the past five years, “leading the school through a period of exceptional growth and achievement,” OBCS said. Under her leadership, the school was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School, earned a 99 on the Alabama State Report Card, was recognized as a Top 25 School in Alabama through the Legislative School Performance Recognition Program, received the Attorney General’s Silver Model of Enhanced School Safety Award and was designated an Ocean Guardian School. During this time, it was also the only school to have two consecutive years in which 100% of third-grade students were reading at or above grade level. In her new role, she will support districtwide initiatives focused on student achievement, instructional excellence and continued growth across OBCS.
