ASMS Completes Outdoor Classroom Project

MOBILE, Ala. — The Alabama School of Math and Science (ASMS) recently cut the ribbon on its outdoor classroom spaces at its Mobile campus at 1255 Dauphin Street. An amphitheater and covered pavilion funded by the State of Alabama’s Public School and College Authority, the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund supporting COVID-19 relief and donors provide outdoor spaces for students to learn, perform and connect outside as a class or in groups. “Bringing these spaces to fruition now coincides with a growing body of research, which is finding that learning outside has excellent benefits for students, including reduced stress, improved attention and even better immune function,” said ASMS President Dr. John Hoyle. Additionally, the school plans to break ground on a new Science Research Center this summer.
