USA Chooses Bonner As President

The University of South Alabama (USA) Board of Trustees has selected Jo Bonner as its next president. Currently serving as chief of staff to Gov. Kay Ivey, Bonner was vice chancellor for economic development at the University of Alabama System during 2013-2018. He also represented Alabama’s First District in the U.S. House of Representatives during 2003-2013. In his current governmental role, he directs an executive staff of 35 and oversees 21 cabinet agencies and departments administering a total state budget of more than $26 billion. His tasks include the development of Ivey’s strategic policy agenda and communications, and working with leaders of the Alabama Legislatures, the business community, advocacy groups and the public. To be the school’s fourth president. Bonner will be formally introduced and welcomed at the next regular meeting of the USA Board of Trustees on December 2.
