Sternberg Named President Of Medical Society Of Mobile County

Dr. Michael L. Sternberg is the new president of the Medical Society of Mobile County. He is an emergency medicine physician at USA Health University Hospital and serves as a professor and clerkship director in the department of emergency medicine at the University of South Alabama (USA) Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine. In this position, Sternberg will lead more than 1,000 physicians in the medical society, which provides representation to the state’s medical association and advocates for public service programs. Sternberg has held multiple previous local and state leadership positions. He has served on the Mobile Medical Museum Board of Directors, served on the medical society’s board of censors and is the immediate past chairman of the Mobile County Health Department Board of Directors. He has been on the Council of Continuing Medical Education and is a multiyear delegate and counselor to the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, as well as a board member and past president of the Alabama Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. As one of the longest-serving emergency medicine student clerkship directors in the country, Sternberg has earned more than 30 teaching awards. He is board certified in emergency medicine and internal medicine.
