USA Health Educator Inducted Into International Honor Society
Dr. Lisa Moreno-Walton, professor and vice chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at USA Health, has been inducted into Sigma Xi, an international honor society of science and engineering. Membership in Sigma Xi is by invitation only and follows a review of a scientist’s scholarly work by the organization’s board of directors. Moreno-Walton joined the academic health system in 2025. She came to USA Health from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, where she was a tenured professor of emergency medicine and associate dean. Moreno-Walton earned a medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed residency training at Jacobi Medical Center. She received a Master of Social Work from New York University and a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Tulane University in New Orleans. She is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and serves on the organization’s Stakeholders Advisory Board. She is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and on the board of the American College of Academic International Medicine. Candidates are evaluated on academic productivity before members vote on whether to extend an invitation.
