Coloring Book Drive Announced

Elizabeth’s Crayons, which collects coloring books, crayons, colored pencils and markers for children and families in the Mobile area, is again partnering with the City of Mobile Community Affairs Department to collect donations of coloring books, crayons, colored pencils and markers that will be given away to local children. The drive will be open from May 21 through June 6 at the Government Plaza (205 Government Street) atrium information desk or at the Community Affairs office (200 Government Street). All the supplies collected will be given out to members of the community on a first-come, first-served basis on June 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association Den at 305 MAMGA Drive. The nonprofit’s founder, Malcolm Banks, is a graduate of the Mobile’s C251 Citizens Academy. Banks began the annual coloring book drive in 2021 to honor his late mother, Angeline Elizabeth Jones, who loved coloring.
