Crepe Myrtle Trail Ride Tomorrow

The 9th Annual Crepe Myrtle Trail Ride is taking place on March 23 at 8:30-11 a.m. in Mobile. The family-friendly group ride is for bikers of all levels. It features 12 miles of scenic views beginning at McNally Park. Participants will ride across Brookley Field to Arlington Park and finish back at McNally Park, where the Crepe Myrtle Festival will be held. The ride is open to everyone ages 8 and up, and no riders under age 8 or in a trailer/tag-a-long are allowed. Helmets are required, and no training wheels are allowed. Registration, available at 8 a.m. in person, is $15 and free for those 8-12 years old. Mobile United’s Natural Resource Task Force organized the inaugural ride in 2014 to draw awareness to the proposed Crepe Myrtle Bike and Pedestrian Trail, part of the Mobile Greenway Initiative, a multiuse waterfront trail stretching from the University of South Alabama and Langan Park along Three Mile Creek south to Dog River and, eventually, Dauphin Island. Funds from the registration fee are only to cover the expenses of snacks, drinks, sunscreen, medical supplies, etc. For more information, call Mobile United at 251-300-1482.
