Veteran’s Day Events Announced

The Mobile Bay Area Veterans Day Commission has announced several events for November 10, the day before Veteran’s Day, in Mobile. A flag-raising ceremony will be held at Battleship Memorial Park at 7 a.m. A parade will take place at 10 a.m. on Government Street near the Mobile Chamber. A luncheon to recognize and honor Patriot of the Year Jo Bonner (president of the University of South Alabama) and Mobile Bay Area Veteran of the Year David W. Riley (a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard) is being held at noon at the Fort Whiting Armory. A parade of flags featuring fourth graders from Mobile and Baldwin counties will be held at Battleship Memorial Park at 3 p.m. Finally, the Mobile Symphonic Pops Orchestra will perform patriotic music and a salute to veterans at 7-9 p.m. at Battleship Memorial Park.
